Grades 1-3 Mustached Mr. Geo takes young readers on a tour of Pennsylvania in this lively installment in the Green Light Readers series. Beginning in Philadelphia, he takes in a parade and a baseball game as well as many of the city's cultural and historic sites (e.g., the Liberty Bell, the Philadelphia Museum of Art). He then expands his tour to Amish country, Hershey Park, Pittsburgh, and Punxsutawney, among other locales. Colorful, cartoonlike illustrations offer context clues and maps, and they often show Mr. Geo holding something iconic (a quill pen, a Philly cheesesteak). As a Level-3, Get Moving! reader, the text is simple yet engaging, and it contains Did You Know? Pennsylvania facts on most pages. Back matter includes a glossary, fast facts, important dates, and activities. A pleasing way to travel and learn.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2015, American Library Association.)
